Are there any differences between the au series 2 and 3 220kw motors??

I just put a deposit on a 2001 S2 XR8 with the 220kw motor.

have heard a few people complain about detonation in the S2 220 models. Possibly the tunes could be different?

What heads did you put on? And what was wrong with the originals?

I put a set of trickflow alloy heads.

it started out as a oil leak from the valley gasket then I noticed I had a coolant leak from head gasket and rear of manifold, then the trickflow heads come along so I decided to fit them.. kinda got carried away....

Ah I see... How do the trick flow heads perform in comparison to the gt40 heads?

As above, the Twisted Wedge head is in another league above the factory cast iron GT40P. You will however need to budget for rockers and new pushrods as the factory parts are not compatible.

On a seat of the pants/bum-O-metre scale, how much better are trickflow to gt40ps? If the gt40s were ported out, would there still be much difference?

The new 11Rs are worth approximately 44rwhp over GT40Ps with no other major changes...

And thats "as cast", without any porting etc?
Do they even allow for/need porting?

Pretty decent improvement right out of the box though!

How do trickflow compare with AFR, edellbrock, ford racing etc,
And also, whats the likelihood of electrolysis effecting alloy heads?
