Hey guys,

Having a few issues with my red eb Xr8, I've set the tps to .9v, and I'm still having issues when you crack the throttle, the engine will die sometimes, other times it will rev. It's almost undriveable.

I played with the throttle while the ignition was on, engine off, and the voltage seems to move stable, thru the range. However there is a bit of play in the tps. Could it be buggered and giving inconsistent output?

Other than that, maybe I've got a fuel pressure issue....

Cheers

thanks to this thread my car is going great.

all the other mods I have done are now working harmoniously together.

I have been throwing money at the car trying to get it to idle right. did new iridium plugs, new 9mm leads, new dizzy cap, new rotor, new crane coil, crane hi6s.... all to no avail until I finally went through this thread.

I now have a silky smooth idle, much better acceleration and torque across the rev range. no idle hunting, no stalling, I can run the aircon without fear lol.

small investment of $39 for a timing light and $19 for a multimeter.

so now, no matter what other mods I do, I know I can at least get the thing to idle how I want it to.

thanks guys

Glad to read it's helped someone, that's what the forums are all about, and good feedback is always welcomed.

Now my red Xr8 won't run at all, I think the TFI has died. Tested it & it's not working properly according to my tester. Gotta replace that & see if setting my TPS has solved my hunting idle issue.

Cheers

This thread just saved me $100 or so.

The TPS has a deutsch plug on my V8, this means you can stuff the pointy end of a multimeter lead down the back of the green wire and make good enough contact to make the test.

Cheers!

That's great to read. I worked out my issue, TFI was playing funny buggers after I checked my TPS. Just my luck that it decided it wanted to give up.

Fit a spare dizzy and then checked the TPS again, all good in that department. Throttle has been good since, and the Xr8 has been running as good as it can with a restrictive gas mixer on it.

Cheers
