After successfully fitting an XBOX, and also a digital STB, I want to upgrade to a Carputer to handle navigation etc.
I've done a search but couldn't find much on the subject of successfully doing the VGA to RGB NTSC conversion. I've got all the circuitry required to create a combined sync, but have others successfully got the screen 100% operational from a VGA source?
I've looked at the document in the modifications page and I guess hasn't been updated if someone has indeed got theirs running properly.
I'm also looking at purchasing the ArcadeVGA card.
If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Bob

Bob,

VGA signal to composite/svideo/RGB signal is a sumbersome task at the best of times.

2 options available to the best of my knowledge.

1) Video card with TV OUT. Ideally you'd want an RGB output... does the ICC take this or is it a composite singnal only? Most cards have option of Svideo output.. probably the best-bet altho if ICC only takes composite signal there is not much point going svideo...

2) Build/buy/steal/acquire a sync converter... basically the same thing but building your own circuitry to convert the signal..

EDIT: Once more thing, RGB for tv-out vid cards is controlled by software, i.e. PAL-B, PAL-B, NTSC etc etc.

4.9 EF Futura - Yep thats the circuit I am making the board up for at the moment. It's spot on for doing the VGA to RGB with combined sync, but its the video card settings that I'm stuck with.
The ICC takes an NTSC RGB signal.

Happy, what pictures are you after? The only ones I have is something on the screen comming off the STB, its all been ripped out now.

Bob - there is some good freeware software kicking around on the net that will allow you to enter custom refresh rates and play with sync settings...

i cant remember any names but if you look, you shall find...
