If its fully synthetic you'll get more ks out of it, dumping the oil every 5 is more for just the mineral based... (or if you're in love with your car, which I also get.) Is your car mechanical fuel pump by any chance? Could be simmilar to what happens with a lot of dpf's... it's Penrite 20/50 'Everyday' which is Mineral based, if i could afford it id put Fully synthetic Amsoil through it but it's hard enough paying $40 for the Penrite . as for the fuel pump, it's all electric & it's a b**ch to get to!

Im not sure what prices are like up there, but the penrite hpr is about that same price, but semi synthetic, or maybe even full synthetic I think ive seen now?
Also, im pretty sure repco have a massive oil sale this month, think magnetec was like $25 odd for a 5L? Might be worth lookin into... Im going this arvo myself. (hopefully, I cant really afford it either, but mines got coolant in it im pretty sure. Oils a odd green colour, and my pressure guage is on the fritz.) Worth considering if moneys tight, that all motor oil has to atleast meet 2 standards: SAE and API. Aslong as has those (looks like a little "donut" thingy) and meets rating for your car, no reason cant run the cheapest stuff, and just change it more often... Probably adds up to same cost at end of day, but better for the car? Anyways, good luck with finding a cause/solution with your petrol in oil deal. Im interested to hear what it could be.

whoa, look out, $50 for 5L oil and a filter? Break the bank. I'd rather drag it out to 10,000kms and pay $50 than s**t a motor and have to fork out like a $1000 bucks and have no car

I'm saying I'd rather pay $50 every 5000-10,000kms. than drag the services out to double what Ford specifies, clog up something, or spin a bearing etc. and have to either throw a wreckers engine in it and not have the car to drive, or have to rebuild the engine and not have the car to drive.
It's a small price to pay for years of motoring

Tryed lighting the oil on fire but no matter how hard i tryed it wouldnt light & it didnt look very black so maby its not as bad as originally thought but a pressure test is still on the cards.
I talked to a mechanic about this & he said straight away "many short trips without being fully warmed up" which seems to make sense because this past few months has been a case of getting a call at the last second & having to be at a job interview or at another critacal thing where i have only a moments notice to prepare and get there, never had this problem on long distance driving.

Just keep eye on it, check oil pressure, if nothing looks bad, sounds bad, feels bad, chances are you're fine.
Maybe just warm it up and take it for a good blaat one, blow everything out.

(if youve got one)

I wouldn't take a E series that hasn't had the oil changed for 15,000-20,000kms for a "blaat"
