Hi guys,
Hope someone can help me with the following:
I have pulled apart a 302 windsor of an EL. I have replaced all seals gaskets and what not. Fitted some gt40p's whilst at it and a cobra intake. Now to the good part: the harmonic balancer is shot. Was looking around on summitracing for a new one, thinking it would be cheaper. I am jowever not sure what to get. So a 4 bolt one - check. Imbalance -err is that also important to know for the balancer or is the 50oz meant for the flywheel? Internal or externally balanced - internally, right? Errr.
if anyone could help - awesome.
Next thing is, how do I know whether I have put the flywheel on correctly. I am assuming it needs to go on a certain way for the balance to be ok? If only I had marked the f*****r. If it was an I6 I would have been a star, but since its my first 302 windsor....

not 100 related, what brand headgaskets is better: felpro, victor reinz or ACL? Its for the gt40p's, it will be N/A. So compsite would be ok hey? But what brand?

Cheers guys! Much appreciated!

The original equipment gaskets are Felpro ones.....seen it with me own eyes back in the day.
Depending on what flexplate and harmonic balancer you get, may as well get the rotating mass balanced together....that way, there are no fvck-ups.

Just wanting to stay with the stock equipment. Its not going to be a rev monster so not planning on getting a new flywheel. Just need a new harmonic balancer. The only thing that worries me is is putting the flywheel in the right way. I heard you can put it in wrong and have the engine vibrating all over the shop.

Cheers for letting me know about the gaskets. Felpro composite it is!

Cheers!

The drilling on the flywheel is slightly offset.
It will only go on one way.
If you don't have it the correct way you cannot get all the bolts in.

Thanks for all the replies! Very helpful! Guess I should have mucked around a bit more before googling and getting all confused... just checked and it does only fit one way... feel a bit like a retard now. Lol. Also thanks about the balancer info. It was the same balancer I found of summit, so I guess its a goer for the order! Can't wait for early christmas! :D
