Hi All,
When in Drive or reverse my BA XR6T idles at 500rpm. It's not missing at 500rpm, but its low enough that it vibrates the car in an unpleasant manner. In Park or Neutral it idles at around 700-750 and it's smooth as.. no missing or anything, totally perfect and neither moving the steering wheel or turning air con on or off makes much difference. Only thing that effects the idle speed badly is putting the BTR in gear. The car has brand new NGK iridiums gapped at .75 and brand new coil packs.. and not only was the TB cleaned, I took the intake manifold right apart and cleaned the whole thing inside and out. I also put another TPS sensor I had here on it and did the whole turn over for 15 seconds with the throttle all the way on to reset the system. Made no discernible difference at all. Is it possible that my BTR is loading up more at low RPM than it should be? When you put it in gear the car lurches quite a lot so I thought maybe there is something wrong with the auto? Also, I want to put one of those ThermoCaps by davies craig on my car, but I don't know what size/thread I need.. Does anyone else have one on a BA/BF and if so, which one did you get? I know I need the 16psi but it's the thread that concerns me. many thanks regards Frank |

As for the thermal cap they have the same bayonet fitting as a standard radiator cap . Do you want it for asthetics or practicality ? If practicality your'e much better off with a pressure relief cap .

bit of both.. I was hoping they were a threaded pressure relief type.. seems odd that they wouldn't make them to suit the majority of australian cars which all use threaded expansion tanks.
These are what I was interested in.. http://www.daviescraig.com.au/Catalog.aspx?CategoryName=Thermo_Cap They look kinda cool and go well with the bling level of my engine bay. |
