Hey I have a el ghia 6cyl with a fair bit of work done to it but I'm having a problem where for the second time in 6 months it has chewed the gear on the distributor. The first time it was a aftermarket dizzy but had it fixed and used a Bosch one but the same thing has happend. Is there a better distributor out there with a stronger gear that won't f**k up again?

Did you change over the dizzy gear when you changed them? Do you still have your original Dizzy gear? It is always a good idea to keep the gears matching, which is why I suggest using the original dizzy gear on any new dizzy. Also applies to EF Cam Sensor and to the AU oil pump drive. Suggest that you pull the dizzy and inspect the Auz drive gear for any damage. |

once the dizzy gear has chewed out once its pretty much done for..
aux shaft will be damaged and the fine metal particles will be all through the engine.. imo just find a good used replacement engine.... |
