Gday all

I've got a 92dt ticky head and 94dt cam and rockers that I've been cleaning up. I've degreased it and washed it out, them I took a brass wire wheel on my drill to the valve area, exhaust and intake ports, which resulted in a nice clean shiny finish. I'm planning to remove my valves now and 1 by 1 clean them by placing them in my drill, and polishing their face etc with a fine scotch pad lubed with wd40. Is this a good idea?

Also should I degrease my cam and rockers, or should I let them be? currently looking at trying a light port + polish job with one of those little sand paper rolls on my drill.

If anyone out there has any advice on this or any suggestions on what I should do/ be doing I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks :)

There's more to it than that.....how are the valve seats ???....and the seat faces on the valves ???
When you go to pull the valves out, do they want to catch in the guide ???
Are the collets a loose fit on the valve when the ends are touching ???
Is the head flat/straight ???
How is it for corrosion around the water ports ???
Is the cam tunnel scored much ???
Are you going to replace the valve stem seals while your at it ???

If you decide to degrease the cam to give it a clean, make sure you put a light coat of oil or WD40 to stop it from rusting if storing for a long time. This goes for all engine steel engine components. Alloy not so much.

how are the valve seats ??? Good
and the seat faces on the valves ??? Good as well, but I will be lapping them anyway
When you go to pull the valves out, do they want to catch in the guide ??? Only 1 did, and it wouldn't come out unless I tugged on it. Here's a pic of the guide it came out of.

it looks like thread in the pics, but its no where near that deep. Not sure if this matters or not, as when the valve is in there it moves fine.

Are the collets a loose fit on the valve when the ends are touching ??? they're a decent fit
Is the head flat/straight ??? both as far as I can tell but I haven't started to check that yet
How is it for corrosion around the water ports ??? 50/50 I guess, I'll get some pics up
Is the cam tunnel scored much ??? Not so much that your nail catches on it, I'll get a pic up
Are you going to replace the valve stem seals while your at it ??? I haven't considered this and I don't know if I should or not.
