I just did the first service on my FG.
I would just like to say that the placement of the sump plug is horrble. Took it out and the oil comes screaming strait out the side of the sump and hits the k frame. Half the oil sprays everywhere a quarter continues out the side and the rest drops strait down. How do Ford service them without oil ending up everywhere? STUPID! Better get used to it I guess. I also noticed a build up of oil and dirt under the harmonic balacer. SHOT CRANK SEAL?? On a 2010? Been problem after problem with this thing. Stick to the E and A series folks. FG's are LEMONS!

as sad as it is the quality of our beloved fords has been getting rather poor in the last 10 years, to the point of where I would say cheap Korean cars now have better build quality than our aussie favourites.. might be why not enough people are buying them, hence the reason ford Australia is going going and soon to be gone..

The car is mostly very nice.
Though in the short time I've owned it, its had so many stupid issues. Most revolving around interior electricals like the power windows. I just think for a 2010 these problems shouldn't be occurring.

I get a piece of cardboard about 20cmx20cm and fold it down the middle. Hold it in position so that when the oil flys out at an amazing rate it runs down the card into the tray.
And ive noticed these leak from the lower of the front timing case, it looks like a crank seal. But still yours could be the crank seal. But this has been fords weak spot for the last quarter century. They are nice cars tho! |
