hey guys do new lifters usually take time to go quiet or should they be quiet as soon as u turn the motor over cause just finish putting my AU/EL motor into my EL with all new gaskets, timing kit and new lifters (nason brand) they are bloody noisey some have quieten down but still not what I would like it to be. I have install these correctly and i have good oil pressure. so if anyone can give me any relief it would be very helpful thanks.

How long has the car been running?
What brand lifters did you use? They can take a little while to pump up and settle down. |

i'd say let them bleed up abit. ive had some go quiet straight away and some took half a day driving.

jamie22_cole wrote: just like 15mins ago I turn it over hoping it went all well which did except the noisey lifters. i had the car running for about ten mins I would say got a pic of the oil pressure. Take it for a run and see how it goes, they can take a while to pump up but driving around will speed up the process. |

I had new Nason lifters in my ED and they didn't go silent even after a week... I ended up pulling them back out and sending them back under warranty... Replaced with a second set and they too were noisy (at least 2 of them)... I then bought Nason retainers and rebuilt the genuine ones and fitted them back in and they worked sweet...
As such I don't go much on brand new Nason lifters... The retainers but work ok... Cheers, Tim

I fitted Nason HLA's into my ED, and they were noisy on start up ( as expected ), I held the rpm up at 2,000 rpm to 3,000 rpm, and constantly vary it between those two for about 5 minutes or so...no noise after that.....that was the Ford way of dealing with it.
