Hi guys,
I'm doing an engine rebuild on my 86 carby, leaded xf falcon, and wondering if you could give me some advice? I was thinking something like Block rebore and crank grind, Piston rebuild kit with 8cc dish top pistons, Dynotec stage 2 cam Lukey headers 2.5 inch system Redline manifold with 350 Holley Head service with stainless steel valves? Would that combo work? Would I have to change ignition stuff? Or rocker gear? Thanks, I'm a third year mechanic and trying to get my head around all the aftermarket stuff |

Thanks, I'm a third year mechanic and trying to get my head around all the aftermarket stuff I'd go with flat top pistons, regraph the dizzy ( non EST type), IC&E ignition, port the head, port matching, tuned length headers, and if the cam has over 0.500" lift, go the rollers......Rollmaster timing chain set and anti-pump lifters, HV oil pump, and a heavy duty dizzy gear.

Regraph the dizzy anyway, even with a mild cam.....I use HV pumps, because I alter the lifters to give an oil jet to the cam lobes. Flat top pistons give a better CR for getting the best out of the cam, and to get torque. I also clear up the casting down near the lifters as well.....they just bash out the thin bits in the factory, and they aren't pretty.....you'll see what I mean when ya have a look. You can use ARP rod bolts too....from a Windsor V8.....you'll need valve springs to suit the cam too. There is a lot in it.....depends on how much go ya want, how much dough ya got, how much reliability ya want. Remember " A poor man always pays twice."
