im wanting to repsray parts of my engine bay. intake piping, air box and snorkel.. what kinda spray paint does anyone recommend. would i have to use a hi-temp engine enamel or can i get away with it on those parts?

heat resistant paint works quite well, just be carefull when using metallic style heat proof paint, its alot harder to spray metalic flakes tend to swim around on the parts

I find building it up with a few dust coats works well ( as in very thin coats ) build it up slowly...

preparation!
few of the guys here have done so, matti (xyphoid), neonick, myself too (recently finished properly). mine looks like VHT stuff is really good, but make sure you thoroughly clean it and prepare it well, sand down the roughness if u want a really super smooth finish and use plastic primer on plastic parts and finish it all off with a nice clear coat as well.. i got mine done professionally, just cuz the colour i wanted was almost the same in a can as to get it done! lol |

h i worked in a paint shop for 10 years and forgot to mention preperation! use ascetone to clean up the surfaces first...preperation! how could i forget!!

Dang Man!!!
That pic u posted up didn't fully upload on my comp. That sucks a*** man. I seriously don't know what you guys are talking about in terms of what the finished job looks like. |
