HI i just bought a BA FAIRMONT and yesterday luckily just as i got home a little copper disc fell out and hit me on the foot. All of the centre console and accessorry dash lights went out and key was free spinning in the hole. took steering column off only to reveal the back of the igniton is in pieces. is there any way this can be fixed without changing the whole steering column?

They fall apart all the time.
If you have all the parts they can be carefully put back together sometimes. But the ignition switch is a fixed part of the column and cant be changed on its own.

I've pulled one apart and it was horrible to put back together but it was better then buying a new one with new locks for everything.
