Just replaced the timing chains and cam chain tensioners on a 2004 BA XR8, started it up;
The idle is erratic
Won't rev past 1500rpm even at full throttle
and the engine light is on

I have a ELM 327 scan tool, tried various software but it wont pull down the error code.

Is it possible my timing is wrong or could it be something else?

Hoping the error code will tell me something simple is missing, or that I have messed up my cam timing.

Any advice appreciated. Dad not happy!

AFter clearing the codes that were stored and starting it again, I got these codes

PCM P0221-63
PCM P1270-63
PCM P2101-63
PCM P2110-63
PCM P2135-63

All seem to be related to TPS, I did not adjust the tps when I did the cam chain tensioners/chains.

any idea's fellas?
Could it be my timing is out? :(

Did you double check your cam timing after puting the chains on, before puting the covers back on ????

Checked timing - Thinking it was out, took it all off again and retimed the engine.

Started it back up, same symptoms. Crappy idle, will stabilse but sounds horrible and wont rev past 1500rpm even at full throttle.

Perhaps my timing procedure is incorrect;
I put the 1st piston (drivers side) to Top Dead Centre, then placed my timing chains on each cam, moving the cam so the links line up.
Is that the correct way to time the 5.4L BA XR8 motor?

Still same fellas...
Have taken the timing cover off 4 times now to retime the motor and try again.

Sounds exactly the same each time...

ECU is throwing up some TPS codes, and rpm limit reached.

Could my throttle body be stuffed?
Really running of idea's, and patience
