Had a Customer take his EL Street Stock to a dyno house here in Hobart. Now I didn't want him to go there but the chap at my regular place doesn't allow others to run cars up on his Dyno. The 'other' guy was this Streety's Pro Engine Builder but 'fair enough' I thought. So the Streety trundled off to the other Dyno and indeed, the Engine Builder did the 'pulls'.
Figures were ok, nothing startling but ok. So off to the Track we went for Practice day and the car had a misfire from the moment it hit the Track. I traced it back to a Lead. So my question is 'if not enough load is placed on the engine by a Dyno would it a have let the misfiring Lead slip thru to the Keeper so as to speak? Or, was it just coincidence? I don't know enough about Dyno's but I do know there's only one guy who is the best man for the job in Hobart. |

Either way, the customer should've been informed of the miss under load.

More of a 'pull' with twisting of the Dizzy with a print out.
New Exhaust now (slightly longer) has made the Torque hang on a few revs more. Car looks quicker than the regular competition up top and it lacked at the end of the straights before. |

Always plenty of "pulling" around the dyno, no doubt about that.
If the dyno results seemed to be "about right", then you can be pretty certain the engine was under full load. Anything less and you'd likely only see 50% of the Max HP produced. Probably a coincidence, or maybe the timing adjustments disturbed a brittle lead..
