Think i just found the power issue.
The balancer must have slipped some how ( I don't see how it could slip forwards ) and led me to believe the ignition timing was advanced, but in actual fact it was retarded. So i advanced the timing beyond my belief that it'd really work, and behold i had took it for a test drive and spun the wheels up to redline in 1st without dumping the clutch, much more power throughout the gears, the torque i thought had gone throughout its years came back into action. As for the idle issue, that still remains but it could be the idle speed controller as the revs come up and down like the computer is adjusting something, constantly. First startup of the morning is terrible, it idles like a tractor until a little bit of throttle is applied. But i can put up with that for now. Time for a beer

Haha. The test is always that the distributor is at around 45 degrees to the block line as a start. There is a diagram in the manual showing this. It also helps ensure you are on the right tooth between dizzy and drive. New balancer then....
