Am stumped boy and girls. My 5.0 has become hesitant at low revs almost like it drops a cylinder.. But here's the weird bit. I've replaced filter, plugs and leads and even got new injectors.. It doesn't do it all the time and I can't make it do it when I want. It's been to 4 different mechanics who said different things, last mech scanned it and said was running lean. I can only think of 3 last possible problems but neither make sense. 1 fuel pump. 2 fuel pressure reg. 3 oxy sensors.... Anyone have any ideas?? Am considering calling a priest and performing a exorcist .

someone else i helped out had a similar problem with their 6 and it was a buggered oxy sensor to the exhaust. it had water around and in it after he used a air gun on it it worked fine but stuffed up again. he checked it and water again he replaced it and now he has no problems at all. he also did alot more than you he did plugs, plug cables, coils, injectors, pump, filter and more but after i told him oxy sensor he fixed i and his 6 runs like a charm. might be the same with your 8 but you never know.

I'd check codes and I'd bet it is an O2 sensor too. Having two, you'll need to work out which one by the codes. If it is O2 though you'd also expect some other symptoms like hunting and unstable idle.

My hesitation turned out to be the cam synchroniser, it didnt make any noise at first but by the time it did it was missfiring pretty bad.

I originaly blamed the coils and leads which in an au are not very cheap, the cam synch is very common to fail in the au series of 5ltr so id be looking there.

Bear in mind that a missfire comes up as a lean condition, that's why most people think its the oxy sensors straight away. cam sync or coil packs are your likely bet.

Any way I can test the coil pack? As I said I can only get it to do it every now and then..
