Hi there,
I just disconnected my isc and found that driveability is 100% better, but i just decided that i want to retard my base timing a little but then.. heres the question lol

I thought, if my isc is diconnected when i goto set my base timing will it still behave as it should and drop the idle after 2 mins etc? Or do i have to reconnect the isc and reset my base idle again? Is there any harm in trying to do it with the isc disconnected? (Only because im lazy. But willing to do what i have to lol)

Cheers all 8-)

Fuel prices where i am have gone up and i want her to be able to run atleast prem95 without pinging. At the moment she requires 98, but i also have a strange sound between 1800 and 2600 that sounds like pinging but is possibly a small exhaust leak, so retarding the timing back to TDC or 1 or 2 degree advanced will eliminate whether it is pinging or an exhaust leak.

If you are worried about fuel prices you're better off not driving an XR6 :P
My EB XR6 might aswell have been an 8 for all she drank hahaha.

Dont get smart lol  i love my xr, im mainly worried about the possible pinging, not too fussed on petrol prices but still, 1.80 for 98 is pretty insane.

Hahaha

I'm surprised you need to run 98 at all. I had advance on my EB XR and it'd still run fine on regular.

I do it to prevent any case of pinging. Plus i noticed an exceptional difference in power and economy when switching from 91 to permanent 98. Gave her alot more down low pull and seemed to idle and just run smoother completely. so i havnt gone back, but its possible if fuel remains so dear, id prefer to keep her on 98, but we'll see

Why not go out and try dropping the car into diagnostic mode. If it doesn't work plug in the ics and do it properly.
The amount of time youv wasted here talking to your mate you could've already done the job.
Also im 99% sure my el needed the ics plugged in for diagnostic mode.
