I'm looking at upgrading to the V8 and I'm wondering what needs to be done. I'm running an XHII 6cyl dual fuel manual, its a tradesman (1 tonne) as well. I have my eye on an EF xr8 auto sedan (dual fuel). what would be my easiest option as in EF, EL, AU, etc.?
Cheers all. |

I'm doing a similar build soon except I'm using an AU xR8 motor.
Do you have a whole front cut to use or just an EL motor?

EF or EL are ideal for an XH V8 conversion. EL is the better option.

Why would you buy and wreck a perfectly good EL XR8 and put it in an XH 6cyl? Just buy an XH XR8. The only reason I'm doing mine is because the AU was from a mates wreck and very cheap and I also bought my XH cheap. Overall, the total will cost less than a nice EB SXR8.... or an XHXr8 for that matter.... and I'll have more power. Manual from a 6 cyl won't fit without some coin (dellows bell housing, input shaft extension, v8 flywheel, v8 clutch) So you'd have to source a nice manual el xr8 (more expensive) to strip (please don't unless it's a wreck) or source a manual box separately, which are pretty hard to find and I normally see sold for $1500+.
