my au2 vct has a dead spot on acceleration does anybody know what would cause it. I bought it with the problem . I think its a fuel control problem but not sure what controls it .

First place to start is the fuel filter.

If you are seeing black smoke out the exhaust when this is happening, the engine is way over-rich and flooded with fuel. Otherwise (and more likely), this sounds like the opposite problem - going too lean. Check fuel filter and check for vacuum leaks (Brakleen is great for this). Unlikely to be fuel pump, as it revs out OK. Also, could be a the oxygen sensor past its use-by date forcing the fuel trims to extreme lean. You can test this by disconnecting the sensor connector, and resetting the ECU by unplugging it for a minute or disconnecting the battery for 30 mins or so. Take it for a drive with the sensor still unplugged; if the problem goes away, your sensor is faulty.

Mine did this too... Ended up changing the PCM to one with a different catch code but still from an AU2 manual... Seems much better ever since... Yours would be an auto but I'm guessing...
Other thing I have purchased to try is the hego sensor thinking it may have been worn out... If the morning is hot but mine doesn't do it... Only does it when the weather is cool and only for a couple of take offs until something gets little bit warm and it goes away... Cheers, Tim
