wanting to get my ed licensed need to know if these had security system
(similar to smart lock on xh,ef,el) don't want to put imobiliser in if no need

They have smartlock imoboliser which was excellent in their day. Not the best security now but still good enough to slow or stop novice car thieves. Add a second alarm or kill switch.

Yes. It flashes on the left hand side every few seconds when the car is off or locked.

I think the smartlock light is an LED also so they dont usually blow. Does the car have the original cluster ?
Maybe it has a non smartlock cluster fitted.

yep, correct cluster, can see "smart lock" outline using a torch but may have elec issue, green "power" light for trans doesn't light up

That is a globe at least for the power light. 3W wedge globe. I have replaced mine a few times :)

The Ed had a separate 2 pin plug which just did the smartlock jewel... Could've been left unplugged at one stage...

Pull the interior light fuse and see if it starts... Soon tell if smartlock is working (you'll lose the dash clock)...

Someone may have bypassed it then? Is there a red/orange module bolted above the handbrake? If you can contort onto the drivers floor and look up?

red module still bolted in and feels like harness is still plugged into it. have had to put aside for now ea did the head gasket on the weekend, so will have to fix that first
