Hi

I need to get the SLS susspension working in my NL fairlane, but i cant seem to get it to initiate the SLS diagnostics.

I have put the fuse in where the SLS is but when i start the engine and switch the switch like it says in the manual i get nothing. when i turn the key off i get Check Susp light on the dash on all the time. how do i go about starting with this,

I am putting HID projectors in this car and intend to do it by the books so have SLS and washers so i need to get this working.

i can not hear the compressor working or anything.

Where do i start with this one?

Regards

Barry

from my understanding of the requirements as long as the vehicle is capable of compensating for load in the back it is legal.

and regardless i still want my sls working

I found the problem.

Basically pedders have touched it.

They have replaced the rear shock absorbers with there own brand. and the car is begining to sit low on the passenger rear side so it is sometimes triggering off that sensor causing the compressor to kick off pumping air just to noware.

so here is the thing.

The car has pedders crap suspension in the back both a spring and a strut on both sides. i can get a pair of sls struts from supercheap for $200 for a pair. but ford have made that spring obsolite now and dont stock it. i have called supercheap and repco and they have said they cant get the springs to suit the sls as the sls springs dont need replacing when the strut fails.

what type of spring can i put in to replace the after market pedders suspension with the proper SLS ones.

Regards

Barry

Standard height is what you will need in regards to springs.

the rear on the nl fairlane are shocks that run up the centre of the spring, there not a strut..
its just a matter of replacing the shocks with the sls shocks, but your saying the car is sitting low on one side, I would look into why , maybe you also have a broken or sagged spring

to check that i am guessing i will have to lift the car up off the ground to allow the spring to "relax" so i may see them?

or do they need to come out completely?

Regards

Barry
