That F***ing Idiot
Because mine died and it's a real pain in the proverbial to diagnose the fault. In fact had it not been for the knowledge on this site I seriously doubt I'd have been able to get this fixed myself and since I'm unemployed at the moment that would have been a big problem. Still a lesson learned and I'm seriously considering remotely mountig the TFI on a heat sink to keep it cooler. Go stung for a whole new dizzy ($170) as the shop didn't have a TFI on the shelf. So had to remove the inlet manifold to make the replacement, what a pain, at least I was able to replace the manifold gasket. I've never experenced a vehicle with such an awkwardly located distributer that incorporates a heat sensetive component in possibly the hottest engine location apart from under the exhaust manifold. Rant over! |

You can do it without removing the manifold. But its still a royal pain the the proverbial.
I hate distributors and think cars of this era shouldn't have them. I converted my EL to coil pack ignition from and EF. No more TFI failures, No motor rotor button and cap replacements while burning my hand on the heater pipe! If you good on the Auto elec side it's a good conversion. Was easier for me though running an AU motor. You need the timing cover where the CAS bolts on also the Tone wheel on the harmonic balancer.

Yep...
Dizzy fits in with the rotor button and first cap removed... Then you fit those once in the block... the-garage-f53/timmya-s-93-ed-falcon-t79040-420.html Read this page and the following page^^^ Cheers, Tim

Always make sure you use genuine Bosch TFI/Dizzy/Coils or you'll be replacing it in 12months... or less!
Repco's standard Fuelmiser brand are crap!
