Hi,
Have a competent workshop fit an AU head and gasket. The gasket should fix the problem, but chances are the head is warped. Do both at the same time and also have the block checked. If the head face is warped on the block you will need to replace it also. It is possible to fit an AU motor, but it is not a straight swap. Have a look at the " stickies " above.

thanks for your ideas have since had it at mechanic all their tests come back clear.
Basically checked the usual, oil good not milky , no air in bubbles in radiator and spark plugs not steamed cleaned but also did compression test. as my wife drives the car not me i checked it out today started ok but ran a bit rough for a few mins. bit of smoke more grey than white when idling coming out in puffs. got her drive up street and come back smoke stopped on acceleration and when she took foot off to around started to smoke a bit then stop when accelerated to drive back. the car does have a few oil leaks etc for its age and yeah had head mchined when last gasket was done |
