I'm hoping someone can provide me a solution on how to fix a mag wheel problem.
Three days ago I purchased a product spray to clean my mag wheels. Not knowing the difference, I purchased a spray can that said "Wheel cleaner" spray on and leave for 10 mins then wash off. Problem now my mag wheels look like crap as the plastic coating (looks like clear coat) has been damaged and looks like glue runs. Does anyone know how to fix this? If so, what do I need and how do I go about it? To save costs I'd like to do this myself, being on a pension these days money cant be spread out as much. Cheers, |

Lodge a claim againt the Cleaner manufacture if you read the directions and applied it correctly.
Otherwise, you will need to strip the clear coat off the wheels and reclear coat them. |

I could try that but chances are there would be a loophole they would exploit to get out of. I'll take pics and send it through and see what happens. If this fails, I'll strip the clear coat off What product would I need to strip the clear coat? Would it be Acrylic or Enamel Clear coat applied to mag wheels? Cheers |

I have used a non corrosive stripper in the past but you would then need to repaint your wheels. A Good high quality clear coat will do the job. It is all in the preperation.

Do you have the name of the non corrosive stripper?
Will I need wet and dry sandpaper? If so, what grade would be recommended? Thanks |

I think it was "Diggers" Brand. Just go to Bunnings and check their range, there will be a non corrosive one there.
Usual wet and dry, bit of 220, 400 and some 800. |

Thanks mate. I'll be working on it as soon as I have all items, including few spray cans of clear coat prior to stripping. Cheers |
