remove bumper bar a few studs and scrivets around wheel arches
2x 10mm nuts per side inside the boot behind the lights
3 scrivets underneath near tyre well
unplug reverse sensors if fitted

there are a couple of types of bars
most have 2 bolts each end and 2 or 3 in the middle panel
they use self threading bolts, if you tap the holes that are already in your car they will go in easier, especially if secondhand/used.
they can be heavy, get a helper
remove the cut out from the bumper for the tongue
make sure to use proper hi spec bolts, not cheapys

the plug wiring has a few options
get the original lead from ford or wrecker, just plugs in behind RH taillight
buy a plug and lead from supercheap etc and splice it into the wiring plug
just test wires one by one for indicators brakes etc and wire to right pins on the plug end, pins should be described on the box.
easiest way is a flat cable type lead from supercheap etc, I dont tow much so I just use round for the few hours it is in there it wont hurt, just coil it up in the boot near the jack and roll it out when using the trailer. No holes etc in bumper and wont get torn off on low driveways. Another way is to tuck it in behind the bumper and use a piece of wire or something to secure it, then get it out when needed and use wire to attach plug to trailer so it wont drag.
the Ford loom and plug will deactivate reverse sensors, the flap being open when you plug in the trailer will deactivate them. Thats why they are a bit dearer. You can put up with the beeping when reversing or you can short it out when you hook up the trailer.
