Hi everyone,
It just occured to me to check what injectors my xr6t has in it now. The number on the side appears to be: 0 280 156 128 0280156128 0 280 156 128 EV 6 14.5 Heptan 270 294 309.9 443 I've searched the net long and hard and the only thing I found that told me anything useful was a spreadsheet that listed them as Bosch 270kpa e85 injectors... I don't know if its true though. If they are e85 injectors, would that explain the low idle as I've been running premium 98? Can anyone help me out with some info please? Kindest regards Frank |

I just found a focus/Mondeo/fiesta forum talking about the same injectors and seemed to suggest they were just normal 42 pounders.. So now I am more confused.

Are you sure it's 128 and not 123?
123 is stock BA I6. (and turbo) |

zoom in the pic and there 0280 156 123, they are standard ba/bf and xr6t injectors.. 29lb

Here the 123's are rated at 213 g/min, which converts to 28.2 lbs/hour.

Sadly you are correct Mad and Troyman.
I went out with LED torch and a magnifying glass and it is in fact a 3... No matter, I have a box full of 42lb's to go in when the tune does. I thought I'd found the cause of the low idle for a minute there. Interestingly the choke mech works fine.. when you start the engine cold, it idles at just over 1000 for about 30 seconds before slowly dropping to 750 and from there as it gets hot down to 500 ish.. The thing I don't understand is that the if the higher idle/richer mixture is working, the PCM must be getting accurate RPM and temp readings.. so if the turn says it should be 750 and it's only doing 500 why isn't the PCM winding it up a bit to suit? driving me nuts. |

the pcm has a fast idle for so many seconds on start up, not really a choke.. and it will be slightly richer on start up but will say a % richer until water temp gets to about 40deg c..
this might sound silly but is your tacho actually reading accurately ? |

The tacho matches what ODB2 says.. so if it's wrong, the PCM is wrong too. Plus it feels low. in fact when it goes below 500 while in drive the car actually shudders a tiny bit like it's trying not to stall. The interesting thing is that its nearly impossible to use your foot on the accelerator to get it to set at 750.. when you try it seems to not sit steady until you are over 1000.. under that it goes up and down between 500 and 1000 until you give up trying with the accelerator and then it just goes back to 450-500. It's really making me miss the ISC and grub screw on my EL. My nephew brought his old celica over the other day cos it wouldn't idle.. I found the ISC and cleaned it and it was perfect.. but damned if I can figure this BA idle out. |

have you tried to do a throttle body reset??
there is a procedure to reset the throttle body which has something to do with throttle position.. |

That's the one where you hold your foot flat to the floor while trying to start the car for 10 or 15 seconds.? yeah.. about ten times now. Wish there was a PCM error code about this.. at least we'd get a clue, but only Body codes show up about a mixer shaft in the air con. I might just put the whole spare Throttlebody on just to see if it makes any difference.. I doubt it will, but I'm out of other ideas. I don't think it's a lumpy cam and standard tune causing the issue anymore simply because a lumpy cam would probably not idle will at 500rpm if at all. |

I will never like " fly by wire " accelerators/throttle bodies.
I can feel the difference.....I like cable accelerators. With all the modern stuff now, all you have control of is the twirler.....all so complete numbnuts can drive a car without killing themselves or anybody else........apparently.

I totally agree.. wait for a few years when we have drive by wire steering... with computer co-pilots... (though it is nice not to have to look at a manky throttle cable that has been hung over extractors for years.) I know they have been doing it for years in planes, but in planes they have multiple redundant backup systems. in a car I like good old fashioned steel shaft steering my car. |

There will always be lag in fly by wire, I find it a bit tricky blipping the throttle on down shifts as well.
