What is the torque setting for the pinion nut on El Falcon 1998 that has a squash spacer.

There is no torque setting for the nut... It is tightened to achieve a predetermined preload on the bearings...
Preloads are (for AU live axle but would apple to EL i'd think (same diff)) New Bearings With oil seal: 1.4-2.4Nm Without oil seal: 1.4-2Nm Old Bearings With oil seal: .7-1.2Nm Without oil seal: .7-1Nm Cheers, Tim

I get the impression people who know how to do it, do it by feel... Otherwise you use the spring gauge as per the book... Never had a go personally... Best left to the people who know how to do it... Also to the OP... You need to replace that collapsable washer you know? Must be changed everytime that pinion nut is loosened... It helps determine the preload as it collapses... Cheers, Tim
