Just trying to get my head around this.

What is the relationship between the cut outs/ notches on the distributor body and the #1 cyl lead post on the cap?
Surely it 'shouldn't' make a difference if you were to put the #1 lead on the post that the rotor lands on once the dizzy is seated correctly while the engine is at TDC compression stroke?

Or is there a special electrical connection that happens when all those parts line up?

Just curious guys...

Cheers

One of the teeth on the chopper wheel is smaller than the others to let the ECU know when the engine is at TDC.

Not sure if I am with you, but if you line up the engine on no. 1 cylinder tdc compression, line up the rotor on the start marker inside the dizzy. Then with the TFI module at the front at sort of 15 deg from the block, insert into the hole. The rotor should now be pointing at the finish marking. Then you pop the car into diag mode and check the base timing with a timing light. Make sure you tighten the dizzy clamp properly. Speaking from experience, this could end badly lol.

That would make sense actually. That's probably why there is only one spot of importance marked below the rotor for the location of the arm once installed properly.

Cheers fellas
