Yes, I know you said that previously about your vehicle. I have been going through process of elimination to rule out other possible causes. It now seems logical it's the handbrake cable as well as handbrake shoe that are the cause of that metal clanging and will need adjusting.

I'll adjust both and see if that solves the rattles, I'll notify all the result.

Update,
93EB and others.

Thanks to all for your comments and advices.

I've jacked the rear of my car this morning, taken wheels off, rotor disc. I discovered a seized handbrake shoe adjuster on the passenger's side. Placed in a vice and used back of shifter to free up the actual adjuster cog.

Reinstalled adjuster wheel. Adjusted handbrake shoes accordingly on both sides, lowered vehicle and went for test drive on rough bitumen. Music to my ears..no metal sound...very, very quiet.

Wooo hooo, its amazing of how something so simple drove the both of us nuts and could have been potentially very expensive to track down.
My hair has since regrown a couple of mm since friday. :lol:
