After reading for hours about the EEC self tests, & related stuff, Im still
no closer to undrstanding what i need, and how to do this.
I have an EB, all I want to do is diagnose any faults that may be causing
my majorly excessive gas guzzling. Apparently, when i read the manual, I can use
my digital multimeter, but then on forums etc. i read about special scan tools, programs
etc. to diagnose.
Is there an old thread, for "self testing for dummies", or the like?
Cos' I feel like a right dumbass right now.

Ok after some more reading, I know I need a EEC-IV or OBD scanner.
From what Ive found, all of them seem to be for use on post 96 vehicles.
there seems to be some older EEC readers, but, i want to know it will work
on my 93 eb before buying one.
Has anyone found and successfully used one on a pre 96 E-series?
I know these may seem like stupid questions, but everyone has to
start somewhere huh.

Please, any help or links, would be appreciated.

I have a diagnostics scanner that tells you the codes I bought it on here as a part of a group buy $200 each but I have changed to a stand alone ECU and nolonger am running the standard ECU so I no longer need it, if interested im after $160 posted for it it does all falcons from XF-EL and gives you the codes in a digital form with instructions manual and the book of all the codes and how to fix them including ABS/gearbox/engine & A/C fault codes for I6 &V8 motors any variation (xr6/8, fairmont fairlane LTD etc)
