Hey guys I tried to put my xf falcon sedan into base timing mode on the weekend by bridging them two wires while the car was on and nothing happened, did the same to my other xf wagon and it works fine, revs drop, set timing then remove bridging wire, any idea whats up?

car was auto and i put manual in it and left auto est computer in it, and the wagon was manual now auto with manual est, both run carbys and duel fuel.

any ideas?

Cheers Brad

Get one of these to bypass the ECU completely.

Just need to hookup 2 wires to the ignition coil with that as it replaces the ECU completely and rotate the dizzy until it runs at the right speed during idle, don't forget to connect the vacuum hose too for advance when at high revs.

Then you tie up the old wiring plug from the older dizzy to keep it out of the way.

This dizzy will give you better fuel economy and more power.

It could be a faulty TFI module too.

To get base timing on the XF there's a plug to disconnect SPOUT at the dizzy. (green/yellow wire from memory)
