Hey, I have a 98 El futura and a 95 Ef falcon and im wanting to pull the ef engine out and replace it with the el engine. Both cars are complete with everything electrical wise. Just not 100% sure on how much stuffing around it is going to be and what needs to be transferred over to make it work correctly.

Thanks.

You will need to fit the Cam Sensor from the EF to the EL engine, remove the dizzy and switch the gear from the dizzy to the Cam sensor, not 100% necessay but keeps the gears matching. You will also need to fit the crank angle sensor to the timing case. Some EL timing cases has=d the fitting for these but by 1998 I would say not. You may need to fit the EF Timing case to the EL Motor. You will need to swap over your EF wiring loom and fit the coil pack. Also fit the EF Alternator as they are 110amp and EL are usually 100amp.

Hi Ryan was just wondering how you went with your conversion EL Engine To EF, I need to do it but most of the people commenting haven't done it,,Is it as simple as changing the dizzy,coil,crank sensor alternator and harmonic balancer..Or is it a nightmare....

All you need to do to fit an EL engine to an EF is the following;

Remove cam sync sensor from the EF Motor, remove the dizzy from the EL Motor, emove the gear from the EL Dizzy and fit to the EF Cam sync sensor.

You will need to fit the Crank angle sensor to the timing case. You may need to switch timing cases as some of the EL's didn't have the mounting pints for the sensor.

Harmonic Balance will need to be changed to one with the "Teeth", some EL's had these fitted, old EF stock.

Alternator will need to be 110amp unit. Some EL's had a 110amp, some had 100amp.

Fit EF coil and EF engine loom.

Every thing else is compatable.
