Took my Fg XR6 5 speed auto out to a track day yesterday just for fun (I know... who takes an auto out to a track day) and after the track dried out I was running 1.32 times (Mallala) consistently until warning came up saying transmission overheat. I backed off, pushed the select button to cancel warning and everything was fine. Car never played up at all and warning didn't come on again until nearly the end of my next stint. Long story short. everything seems fine but im just curious to know is that just a premature warning (which is good) or is that a code that needs to be cleared. There is no evidence at all from a drivers point of view that it was ever on.

it means your transmission was overheating.
std there not really designed to be pushed hard for periods of time, does it have an external trans cooler?? in cases where you give them a hard time eg heavy towing or "racing," you need a good size cooler for the transmission.. one thing that kills them is heat, heat cooks the fluid which causes the fluid to break down earlier than normal.... |

I'd be changing the fluid now.....cheaper than an auto tranny rebuild....
