hey everyone, over the past year i have been building a high comp na xr6 BF MKII and purchased vernier cam gears. when i sent it in to the tuners they had no clue how to set up the cam gears, even when i called atomic they had no information on how to set up their own product.
Would anyone please have any idea on how to get the most out of the adjustable cam gears or if they know of anyone who has set them up and give me the details ? thank you |

you will need the cam specs and set up the cam timing accordingly

The cams are atomic stage 4+, the problem is no tuner wants to adjust them accordingly as none know how to or dont bother with them as they are time consuming. im hoping that someone has done a close set up and would have information on what they set them on.

do you have a sheet with ALL the cam specs?
most tuners will only know how to play with laptops and not cam gears - find a competent tuner that also knows how to build engines |

did they give you any other specs with the cams?
ie suggested ICL or lift @ TDC? do you know how much piston to valve clearance you have from when you built the motor? |

the TDC is estimate 50 thou.
and i know the car has around 11.2 compression running E85 |

In that case you would need to set your intake at around 10 thou at tdc then measure the icl and set the exh cam centreline 112-114 from there

You mean 10 degrees ?
And the max the cam adjusts is 30 degrees explain what you mean when you say "112-114 from there" ? Thanks Mate |

10 thou lift @ TDC and then measure the ICL with a dial gauge. Once you have found the ICL then set the exhuast centreline from there
