Hey guys I am almost finished my conversion. One of the main questions I have is about the coolant lines running to tge throttle body. I live in queensland and didnt think this was very necessary. Has anybody just ran a bypass hose to avoid the extra leak point?

Delete the lines, run the AU EGR spacer, or do as I did and delete the EGR spacer.

Sweet I didnt think it'd give any dramas. Im gonna get the whole kit soon. Au spacer au tb and au maf housing. They were obviously on something when they designed the athsmatic ef gear. With the maf sensor, will I have any dramas with just putting the ef sensor into the au housing? Also, with those coolant lines can I just block off where they come from or should I run a single bypass hose between the 2 points?

Does the AU intake come with the AU heater pipes? If it does then you are all sorted. There won't be a Tee off to feed water into the EGR plate.

Nah the new one didnt come with the heater piping. I just ran a bypass line from the heater pipe around to one of the blanked off spots in the front cool passage on the valley cover. Seems to work ok.

I just ran the coolant from one head to the other, completely bypassing the EGR.
You will need to get the air/fuel ratios checked if you change the MAF. Try the AU one straight up, and then try the E series sensor in the AU housing to see which one gives the best AFR's. I know when I switched to the AU MAF it was very lean at cold idle, before the o2's were warmed up, and it took 2 or 3 goes to fire on a cold morning. But WOT afr's were just about spot on. But I have a quarterhorse chip I tune myself so I can dial the MAF in perfect. Problem is the plugs are different, but you can buy an adaptor pliug from CAPA. |
