Hey guys, my EL has low comp across all 6 cylinders, I've got a CMS Stage 3a head and stage 2 cam inside it, would it be possible to pick up a wrecker engine in good nic and swap over the head with new bolts and AU Falcon gasket?
Or do both the block and head need to be sent off to be decked before hand? At the moment with shaved head, AU Falcon MLS gasket I'm only getting 115psi on cylinder 1 and 125-135 on 2-6, some wrecker engines are advertised with 170-175psi across all 6? Would I pick up a decent amount of power with that size comp increase over what I got now? I'm doing roughyl 138KW at the wheels with a rooted engine. |

Depends on the condition of the block. If the block is ok, then make sure its spotless before the head change. Ideally you would skim the head to make sure.

Get a new block and use the CMS Head, check the deck of the head before fitting, it may need a skim. |

Thanks guys, while I'm here what gaskets/parts should I change while its out of the car? I've got an EL wrecker motor with 113,000km on the clock.
Sump gasket, head gasket and intake manifold gaskets, is there anything else I should change over for new stuff? |

Rear main seal, atleast the welsh plus in the back of the block if not all of them

Water pumps are cheap, might as well do the belt pulleys too.

Ok thanks guys, also got a heater pipe here too in the garage which can go on.
Which welsch plugs do I use? Theres a few different types. Is there somewhere I can order all these parts from in one hit? |
