Recently my bf has developed a starting issue, you hit the key and it fires and shutters and stalls, but as soon as I turn the car over again it starts and runs fine. Mostly when its cold this happens, another thing I noticed is if any form of throttle is applied the car will stay running but barely get to idle rpm's and it will just stutter until you finally let it stall.
No fault codes are being stored and changing the oil made the problem much less frequent and only happened once since the oil change. Ive heard of the same problem being resolved with a new pcv valve, new starter motor, new battery, and cleaned throttle body but the battery and starter are less than 12 mnths old and every thing else is clean and in good working order. Has anyone else had these problems and how did you fix it?
I have thought about low fuel pressure or possibly crank angle sensor?

I noticed ebay are selling alot of the pump housings is there a common problem with them or am I right to change the pump only?

Mines a wagon. Bit of a head ache as there is no access hole like the sedans. Just change pump over.
