Hi,
Im not sure if this is the correct space, or should be under engine management, but here goes... Im wandering if the cluster plays a large role in the starting, and driving, of the car, and which parts of it are important. Im wanting to modify the guage cluster, ie; remove all the factory guages and replace with/mould in, some autometer ones instead... Im just concerned about ruining the operation of my car, smartlock etc... Any advice or examples are appreciated, thanks.

car doesn't need the cluster at all. you will need to run separate senders for the auto-meter gauges

So in theory, I could totally remove my cluster, and still be able to start and drive my car, no hassles?
When you say "seperate" senders, you mean as well as factory ones? I was planning on replacing a few. Is this because I have to retain factory senders/sensors for ecu, timing, etc...? Thanks, just dont want to break my baby, lol

Car will start, run and drive without the cluster. All the cluster is for is display.
You will need to leave the factory sensors to supply signals for the ECU. Aftermarket sensors for the new gauges unless you are lucky enough to match the signals, doubt that though. |

Oil pressure you can change and leave disconnected. temp sender ecu needs as well as air temp

Awesome, thanks for confirming that... I thought smartlock was somehow in the dash cluster, or related... Not sure why.
Thanks again.
