Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone knows how to identify which kilowatt version of the au tickford v8's I have? Is there a number on the engine or compliance plates that says weather it's a 185,200, 220 or 250 kW engine? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If it is out of a Series II XR8, then it will be the 200Kw.
220kw is series III and 250Kw is the Series III TE/TF 347 stroker. |

Sweet then. So it's roughly in the middle of the kilowatt range. 200 kW is far better than the 160 sumthin in the df ltd that the motor n box is destined to go in. Lol. I'm gunna open up the heads to the gasket size and port match the manifold along With a half decent cam and good dual 2 1/4 inch exhaust, it should be sweet little package. What cam would be suitable for me as I want it to be a nice daily with grunt when I want it and a tough sounding exhaust note. As far as pipes go, I hear that it's a mission to get a set of extractors to suit gt40ps in e series due to the plug angle issue. Do you know of any pipes that work? Oh yea, and once all this is done and in my df ltd, what kinda tuning am I gunna have to do?

Only the sedans got the 220kW motors, utes never got them from the factory.
If you look really carefully at the heads, Yella Terra stamped the AU2/3 220/250kW heads with date codes on the exhaust port side of each head. The numbers are only about 4mm high, so are hard to find. All the 220kW heads I've had were also painted matt black, but the 200kW heads were unpainted rust red/brown. Clearly 12 years after the last AU rolled off the assembly line the black paint is now only a guide

Don't touch the intake runners on the cylinder heads it won't improve anything, port the lower of the Explorer intake to the head. You will need to change valve springs & retainers if you plan on a cam swap. Comp XE270-14 cam will give you a lope at idle while still having good enough manners to drive as a daily and won't need a big stall or diff gears. It will also work with the factory 1.7 rockers on the 200kw engine without piston to valve clearance problems.
Can't really help with the headers sorry but Pacemaker or Hurricane might make something?
