Hey guys, I have recently brought a T5 from one of my mates who converted his '97 XH XR6 ute from manual to auto (only has auto license (weak)) and I am going to be putting it into my '96 EF gli. I was in at repco looking to get a clutch kit as they have a 20% off deal at the moment (if you're with RACV) anyway they told me that there are two different part numbers for the xr6 and the standard engines, but when they looked at the specs they both are the same size? I presume they are different because the xr6 may be heavier duty? Does anyone have an explanation or know where I can find it? Could not find it on the internet anywhere!
Also are the brand they use, clutch industries recommended? Has anyone used them before and how did they go? Thanks in advance for your help! |

only differences are early e series ea eb1 has a 9" clutch and eb2 to au has a 9.5" clutch... no special clutch for xr6.. but most do replace it with a h/d one ..

There is a $65 difference between the two that repco have, the one their computer recommended for the XR6 is $65 more than the one the computer says is for EF sedan.

If you are only fitting a stock clutch then get the cheaper one as they as they are the same for GLi or XR, just as Troyman said. |

Just make sure it is a kit with thrust bearing...
Depending what you're looking at I can highly recommend the Exedy HD Pink clutch... But some of the others ones are pretty good too... Cheers, Tim

Cheers, Tim Yeah I was looking at HD kits but I don't want the pedal to be too heavy plus I don't really need one running stock engine, won't get too much of a trashing anyway! |
