Hi all i am currently doing this conversion with an AUI motor in the my EF wagon and have just dropped the engine in, but yet to start it due to low funds for oils and such. This is a great thread and it helped me a lot cheers guys.

Reviving a bit of an old thread here.. My sincere apologies..Figured posting here is probably better than starting a new thread.
Was wondering if alfy.. or anyone whose done this conversion would be able to tell me.. This picture (see above) does not show the sump.. But did they have to cut off the lug on the side of the sump in this area that seems to be in the way of mounting the EF bracket? |

Use the AU II/III - BA alternator with the AU Mount. Plugs straight in and easier to mount. |

AU II/III and BA alternators are more readily available second hand.

Thanks again mate, All your help has been worth gold during all this. Very first conversion iv ever done.
Just got a quote for a BA Alternator and pretty happy with it so I'm off to go get that in a moment. |

Ouch :/ Yeah that probably would have been another way to go about it but the bracket itself looked like it would be no fun cutting into with all the figuring out which angle to go at it from. I seen most people mention they cut the top lug off but no one mentioned the one on the sump and to me it looked like the only thing in the way. I sucked it up though and went and brought a BA one, No fun trying to take an alternator out of a car that had a front end collision but its done now.. Least i know it will be easy to put in since motor is still out. Getting very close now to turning the key

I guess its because the EF ECU (mapped to run a lower compression lower revving engine) is now running the higher compression higher revving AU motor...uses more fuel though than my AU. Make sure you put the AU injectors into the EF manifold. |

Yeah already done that. I mounted the BA Alternator last night.. I see what you guys all mean by being much easier to do than modding the old bracket.
Got work soon today so have to put it on pause.. Might just keep going after work if i can find charging base for my work light. |
