Just wondering if we need to put a auto cooler in our Xr6 Ba model. We have just purchased a camper trailer and were told to put one in as it will cool the gear box, while towing the camper. We have only done 108 000kms in it.

It is a good idea to install an oil cooler for the Trans at anytime but more so if towing.
BTR auto's do not like heat and this will increase with towing. |

No, but on the BA/BF it is highly recommended as they leak into the cooling system.

I got quite a large one off a BF from the wreckers for my AU.
Quite a simple job.. bolt in place in front of the radiator, remove cooler lines (metal pipes run from tranny) from radiator, add hoses straight to the cooler. Don't forget to block off the two fittings so transmission oil doesn't spit everywhere and top up trans fluid. |
