Hey everyone,
My cars going into limp mode! Scanned it today, it's throwing up fault codes for shift solenoids 1-5 Apart from checking all plugs and connectors, is there anything else it could be apart from PCM? |

Dunno if it ever has but I'd be thinking its electrical somewhere rather than gearbox with them all giving out a code at once...
Gearbox is shifting fine when not in limp mode, it's giving no signs of wear or anything |

I've had it since about 170xxx, my dads had it since new.
Its looking like an ecu/pcm problem at the moment. Theres a constant power supply to the transmission valve body when it clicks into limp mode, and for all 5 solenoids faulting at once I'm seriously doubting its a problem in the transmission itself or wirering. If it was only 1 or 2 going then i could understand it being in the tranny itself, plus theres a few other faults that trigger at the same time. the faults are: P0230- fuel pump primary circut malfunction P0753 Shift solenoid A electrical P0758 Shift solenoid B electrical P0763 Shift solenoid C electrical P0768 Shift solenoid D electrical P1465 A/C replay ckt malf P1474 FC-LOW fan primary CKT malf P1748 EPC Malf (shift solenoid 6) |

I've heard from a couple of mates that have owned BA's that the internals of the radiator fail and the tranny oil is being flooded with coolant from the radiator which is the start of the slipping and tranny failing.
When you come to check the oil in your tranny see how milky it is or if their is coolant in there. |

thanks mate,
I've checked the tranny oil, looks fine. I had the ECU tested by logicar which they said it was fine, however had an auto elec come and analyse everything on it and he believes it is the ECU. Getting a new ECU today so fingers crossed that solves it!! |

IF you replace the PCM, you will run into issues with the PATS security system.. do the people doing the job now how to do a PATS reset?
You won't even have limp home mode without it, the car just won't start. cheers Frank |

yeah the auto elec can do the security stuff, just not sure how it will go as the tune is different.
He's gonna give it a go otherwise it'll be getting towed to fraud |
