Hi , I have a NF v8 on gas but won't run on fuel , I had a look and the fuel pump was disconnected so I connected it but still didn't work , so I checked to see it I was getting power and I was . So does this mean that who has fitted the gas is using the fuel pump relay or is there another problem . I was going to connect a battery straight to the pump to see if that work tomorrow .

Ok , I've out that I don't have any power to the fuel pump plug , and when I back tracked the wires to the gas witch and from there the wires go all over the place . I Think I'm ok with wiring but this has got me stumped . I can hear the relay clicking and a click on the gas cylinder but nothing for the fuel pump . Is there or can you get a wiring diagram for the aftermarket lpg system. Any help would be greatful .

It's always a risk posting to these types of threads, mainly because:

- The OP gives you next to no info to go on,
- There's no update on what they've tried/not tried,

and you spend pages trying to get all of this info.

So did you ? It was probably disconnected because it doesn't work, or it all got too hard.

Nonetheless, you still need to test the pump.

Read post1423665.html my post on how to test the car wiring - make sure your switch is selected to petrol.

I did connect the pump to a battery and nothing happened .

I found the black/yellow wire that goes from the pump to the drivers kick panel , and I notice a wire connected to it running up to the switch . But what I don't understand is it runs on gas and not fuel . I've looked at the relays under the coolant bottle and there is 4 . I can hear a clicking sound but no power going to the pump .

I have just finished reading that post thanks I will go check that .

I assume the two thicker wires, and not the two thin ones for the sender :?:

Some setups disable the pump when on gas, but usually have a relay to do this.

Yes that's corrected.

Ok I just did that test with the wire earthed on the diagnostic plug and I had power to the plug then the minute I disconnect it nothing , so does this mean the relay is stuffed .

If you mean you removed the jumper (with IGN still on), and lost power to the pump plug, then that is what is supposed to happen.
Do it again as I described - leave the jumper on and IGN on, and switch over to gas, then petrol, and tell me what you get at the pump plug for those.

Ok I just did that and I'm getting power of about 11v and the same when I switch it over . But I did notice when I had the jumper on the switch lights up but when I took it as I was turning it off there was no lights on the switch .

So it looks like the pump operates all the time, petrol and gas, which is fine.
Lights on the switch - f**k, gas mode, gas fuel level - I'm not there, so explanations.

So what you do know at this stage is you need a fuel pump.

So when I first brought the car the lights on the switch come on eg ( fuel , gas and gas level ) now the lights don't come on at all . So I'm going to need a new pump , but am I also going to need a new relay aswell ?

So by jumping on the diagnostic plug does that buy pass the relay and if so wouldn't that make the relay faulty too.

And quote the OP - not me.
They're the originator of the thread.
