When mine packed in I got a second hand dizzy from the wreckers for 20 bucks, changed it on the side of the road and I was off again!
As creeture3 its not a hard job just take your time.

Haven't read all the posts, but is this a 6 cylinder engine and you changed the dizzy out from under the inlet manifold?

I had a bung hall sensor which took out the whole module about 6 months ago.
Watched a mobile mechanic get the top off the dizzy and learnt a good range of new bad-words in the process. Seemed like a horrible job to me unless you could take the whole inlet manifold off to actually get to the dizzy properly. (Same goes for replacing spark plug leads - that distributor is in a stupid place)

I have heaps of respect for you if you managed to do it on the side of the road by yourself.

Good luck mate. Like I said, dizzy is in an awkward horrible place. Easy as in an 8 cylinder, awful in an inline 6.

Bit like the oil filter in ford 6's and 8's - did they have to put it way the hell up underneath the front cross member?

Understand Bosch are remaking them these days, I would still change the gear to keep them matching though.
