hey all does anyone know if you can upgrade the steering box in an xt to one out of an xf has anyone done it they look the same wondering if anyone has done it

nar dont use a XF box pretty sure the comapny is called

RSS and does a rack and pinion conversion! :)

I don't think the XF box is a straight bolt it. I am pretty the XW is the oldest car that it will bolt straight into.

RRS do a great rack and pinion for all falcons/mustangs but $2200 is a bit hard to sacrifice these days. I intend to get one for the XB eventually.

have been told that the only difference between the boxes is the mounting bolt spacing. one easy fix is to swap the internals between the two different types.

i want to change it because i want to add the later model power steering in it just wondering if it was possible

get the RSS kit will haev rack and pinion and easy upgrade to power steer!

Yes it is possible, no I haven't done it but it has been done many times.

That Parker dude with the massive flared red XY did it, apparently you will need to make an indentation for the steering box as well, not just the new bolt holes etc.

XA-XF basically use the same pwr steer box, they don't just bolt into any models before this.

yeah this can be done my old man did it to his old gt years ago i know he had to drill 2 new holes i think there was another problem but may have been the brakes(fitted an xy booster ect aswell)if theres any probs ill let you know.lol providing he remembers he sold the car about 15 years ago
