I've replaced the ignition coil, spark plugs and all leads on my AUII few days ago.

I have is a Digitech from Jaycar Electronics to test the ignition leads to see if they are still good. see pic attached.

Does anyone know what setting I should have on this multimeter? It's different from the others.

What values / readings should I have so I can work out if the leads are still good or bad?

Any tips would be welcome.

Has anyone used the above brand of multimeter? If so, is the correct setting for testing ignition leads.

Black wire goes to Earth (Com socket) with Selector switch set to 20K.

Readings from ignition leads vary from 2.12 to 2.34.

Should these readings be higher? I did notice a spark coming from lead 2 but cannot determine if this lead is faulty. All leads where removed and replaced with new.

Previous leads were Eagle Ultra Series 8.0mm (never kept the packet so don' know what the range should be on these)

Replaced with Bosch leads 8.0mm

Gregory's Falcon No 274 Service and Repair manual shows how to test ignition leads ( Basically it says place one wire here and another wire there), but no other details provided.

black lead in com. and red lead in Vma -set to 200k range initially then set to 20k range for readings below 20k

testing leads with multimeter only gives a general indication of condition - average figure would be 10-15k ohms per meter ,but doesn't tell you if insulation is breaking down or if lead has intermittent fault- if breaking down when hot etc.

no.1=11-28 kohms
no.2=10-25 kohms
no.3=8-23 kohms
no.4=7-20 kohms
no.5=7-19 kohms
no.6=7-19 kohms

coil resistance = primary -0.6ohms - secondary -9.2 kohms

same limitations as testing leads and not many people have a descent coil tester now days apart from that labour and equipment costs make it cheaper to just replace the coil - or you test it and your leads on vehicle with an osilliscope

all readings are approximate as they can very with temp and also brand of meter
8.0mm leads are preferred.
it is still possible to get wire leads which have a lot less resistance but not as common now days and cause interference with electronics........

No worries, already done so.

Ran Forscan this arvo for any error codes, no error codes, all good so far.

Next job is for aircon regas and replace Receiver/Dryer and Orifice Filter tube, it's blocked.
