I am about to take my xr8 ute off the road for a month to give it some TLC and want to take the manual transmission from my AU SR II and put it into my ute.
Is it only the bell housing and input shaft extender I will need to source? Are the other parts currently on my SR able to be transplanted to my xr8? I have looked over the below thread and I am ready to do it but just want to ensure I have everything I need to do it in 1 go and not have to wait for parts. gearbox-suspension-brake-driveline-f4/can-t-find-that-5-0l-v8-manual-gearbox-conversion-read-here-t68567.html?hilit=au%20xr8%20manual%20conversion |

You will need to source or make a wiring harness for the T5. The I6's T5 harness was part of the injector harness, in the V8's the T5 harness was a separate plug-in harness.
Check availability of the bearing retainer you will also need to source. I suspect it will be obsolete by now. That thread is 7 years old and AU's are at least 13 years old. Ford doesn't usually carry parts for that long. They are a different length to US T5 bearing retainers. You will need a V8 specific clutch cable, 50oz flywheel, 10.5" clutch setup, clutch fork, manual sandwich plate. Pluss all the nuts, bolts, dowels The XR8 ECU will need a manual tune flashed The driveshaft needs to be shortened - AU's had 50mm longer T5's than E-series, but I don't believe the auto length was changed. So while E-series auto & manual ran the same length driveshaft, the AU did not. There may be more, but this is all I can think of right now

The thread he referenced spoke of extending the I6 input shaft to V8 length.
V8 Falcon input shafts are definately obsolete, completely unobtainable anywhere.

I6 & V8 both use the same 10 spline count and input shaft diameter as single rail and SB toploader. The spigot bearing is also the same. V8 inputs have a different tooth count and overall length to all I6 inputs, and V8's have a different pocket bearing to early XF - EB1 falcon T5's. The V8 input is completely un-interchangable with any I6 falcon T5. And of course it is unobtainable anyway....
