hi guys,

a while ago i lost about 3 inches of clutch cable.
keep in mind it is a brand new Exedey H/D clutch and cable.
anyway after tightening the cable up and getting home.

i found a small screw in the cable box.
after removing my engine ive found that it belongs to the other side of the clutch fork.

and has stripped the thread in the bellhousing.

my question is

can i retap this and put a lager bolt in? (ofcourse i can) but dose it havre to be done up tight so the clutch fork cant move or dose it have to have play?

There's also a square type washer that goes on there - I think it's just there between the fork and the alloy housing to protect from wear rubbing against the housing.
The fork just needs locating - there should be play for fork movement, fore and aft, and some sideways.

cheers,

so since my thread has been stripped out.
im going to have to re-tap it and use a larger diameter bolt.
a washer front and back will solver my issue then?

ive never had a issue with a T5 before.
i didn't do the clutch last time mate, had a mechanic do it but when i too the motor out to do a sump a while ago found more than half of the bell housing bolts finger tight and a gap between the bell and block.

so yes im doing it this time round.

just seeing if anyone else has had this happen before and how they got around it.

just cant find any info on what the specs of the clutch fork setting are

It is a fairly loose mount - the fork needs to move for engagement.
